Schedule set for livestock show
Sponsors of the 53rd Sequoyah County Junior Livestock Show this week released the schedule for the upcoming three-day event.
The show and sale will be held Feb. 21-23 at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds at the intersection of East Redwood and Shurley streets in Sallisaw.
All animals will be weighed and sifted between 9 a.m. and noon the day of the show.
Check-in from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 21. Animals and events scheduled for that day include doe goats, wether goats, wether goat sale order, goat showmanship, lambs, lamb sale order, sheep showmanship, heifers, heifer sale order, steers, steer sale order and beef showmanship. Showing of animals begins at 5 p.m.
Check-in for swine is from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Feb. 22 for breeding gilt jackpot, market barrows, barrow order sale and swine showmanship. Showing of animals begins at 5 p.m.
Those participating in showmanship must exhibit their own animal.
The bidders barbecue will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, with the premium auction to follow at 7 p.m.
The judge for the cattle, goats and sheep will be Darin Annuschat of Stillwater, and the judge for the swine will be Brett Anderson of Caney, Kan. The auctioneer is Tommy Wright of Vian.
