Tractor-trailer damages power poles
The Sallisaw Electric Department spent about eight hours Wednesday evening repairing damage created when a tractor-trailer rig tore down power lines on a residential street in Sallisaw.
Sallisaw City Manager Clayton Lucas II said a tractor-trailer rig's trailer snagged a power line just north of the old Tommie Spear Middle School on Creek Street at about 4 p.m.
When the rig made contact it stretched the power line and pulled down several power poles in the process. While the power fluctuated, Lucas said nobody lost power completely while crews worked on the repairs “hot.”
Lucas said it took crews about eights hours to replace poles and get things back in order.
He said the city will likely send a bill to the trucking company to pay for the damages.
