Local roundup: Vian rebounds, tops Class 3A No. 10 ranked Keys

After suffering a gut wrenching overtime loss in the Armstrong Bank Sequoyah County Classic, the Vian High boys basketball team got right back to their winning ways topping visiting and Class 3A No. 10 ranked Keys 37-29 on Tuesday night.

Seniors Javier Ramos, Kaleb Glass and junior Ben Spyres all scored eight points to lead the Wolverines while Iman Harrison scored five.

The Wolverines blanked the Cougars in the first quarter and went into halftime leading 15-9.

Glass scored all eight of his points in the fourth quarter all from the free throw line.

Vian (10-2) will host rival Central (6-4) tonight at 8 p.m.

Roland 92, Poteau 52

Fresh off winning their ninth-straight Sequoyah County Classic title the Roland High boys basketballl team went on the road and made quick work of host Poteau as the Rangers topped the Pirates 92-52 Tuesday night.

Darrius Phillips scored a game-high 26 points, Cameron Daniel scored 17, Jaxon Wiggins scored 14, Julius Plummer 11 and Justin Harvey scored eight in the win.

Roland went into halftime leading Poteau 51-27.

Roland (10-2) will host Checotah tonight at 8 p.m.

Gans 57, Porum 48

Freshmen Keith Renfroe scored a team-high 14 points as the Gans High boys basketball team topped host Porum 57-48 Tuesday night.

Jameson Henry scored 13 points and David Holmes scored nine in the win.

Gans led Porum 28-20 at the half.

Gans (7-7) will host Gore tonight at 8 p.m.

Okay 62, Gore 44

Freshmen Weston Shanks scored a team-high 12 points but the Gore High boys basketball team fell to host Okay 62-44 on Monday night.

Jericho Pettit scored eight points while Trenton Jones and Cordell Coburn each scored five in the loss.

Gore went into the half trailing only by four at 28-24 before Okay outscored them 17-6 to take a 15-point lead going into the fourth quarter.

Gore (4-6) will visit Gore tonight at 8 p.m.

Oktaha 57, Central 56

The Central High boys basketball team dropped their third-straight game this one in gut-wrenching fashion as they fell on the road to Class 3A No. 10 ranked Oktaha 57-56 on Tuesday night.

Dillon Cheater scored a game-high 19 points while Martin Pettit and Jamison Brewer each scored 10 points with Tanner Loggains adding eight points.

Oktaha led Central 29-26 at halftime.

Central (6-4) will take on Vian tonight at 8 p.m.

Muldrow 56, Sallisaw 26 (girls)

Fresh off capturing their second-straight Armstrong Bank Sequoyah County Classic title, the Muldrow High girls basketball continued their winning ways topping visiting Sallisaw 56-26 on Tuesday night.

Sophomore Taylen Collins scored a game-high 13 points while Hannah Boyett and Chalynn Mayes each scored seven and Kamryn Johnson chipped in with six.

Mulrow (12-1) led Sallisaw 37-19 at the half.

Muldrow will host Poteau tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Sallisaw (3-8) was led by Kaylee Bemo and Taite Stites who both scored six points for the Lady Diamonds.

Sallisaw will host Stilwell tonight at 6:30 p.m.

It’s homecoming as well for the Lady Diamonds.

Central 58, Oktaha 39 (girls)

Fresh off their third-place finish in the Armstrong Bank Sequoyah Classic the Central High girls basketball team went on the road and defeated host Oktaha 58-39 on Tuesday night.

Courtney Lee scored a game-high 18 points while Crystal Ortiz scored 11 points, Amber Black eight, Morgan Walker seven and Gracie Henry and Emilee Crawford both scored six.

Central led Oktaha 26-20 at the half.

Central (7-3) will visit Vian tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Keys 37, Vian 22 (girls)

The Vian High girls basketball team fell to visiting Keys 37-22 on Tuesday night.

Hope Salcedo scored a team-high nine points while Dia Jackson scored six.

The Lady Wolverines (4-8) will host Central tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Porum 60, Gans 31 (girls)

Freshmen Jaylie Taylor scored a team-high 12 points but the Gans High girls basketball fell to host Porum 60-31 on Tuesday night.

Porum jumped out of the gates early and Gans couldn’t recover.

Autumn Reed and Macey Lee both scored five points for the Lady Grizzlies.

Gans (1-11) will host Gore tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Okay 70, Gore 39 (girls)

The Gore High girls basketball team fell 70-39 to host Okay on Tuesday night.

The Lady Pirates got nine points from Tesa Ward, eight points from Karli Springs, Addison Sheffield scored seven while Caley Call and Layne Mannon each scored six.

Raylei Yates rounded out the scoring for Gore with three.

The Lady Pirates (2-6) will visit Gans tonight at 6:30 p.m.
