Evlynn Schonefeld

By Lynn McCulley

Evlynn Schonefeld of Sallisaw never meets a stranger and is always full of energy, according to her grandmother

Ä–vlynn, 6, is a student at Liberty Elementary in Sallisaw and has spent most of her time this week making new friends at the Sallisaw Splash Pad Park.

“I like coming here. I like making friends and playing. My favorite toy to play with here is my frisbee,” she said, smiling. She was spending most of her spring break with her greatgrandmother Judy Hales.

“I made a new friend today. Her name is, is….wait! Let me go ask her! She says, skipping excitedly to go find her friend.

“She‚s a talker and she makes friends everywhere she goes,” great-grandmother or “GG” a name given to her by her granddaughter, Hales said. “She‚s just a happy child.”

Evlynn spends time in Sallisaw and also in Corpus Christy, Texas. “She‚ll be here for awhile then she‚ll return to Texas until she‚s old enough to make up her mind where she wants to be,” grandmother said.

According to Evlynn, she loves it in Sallisaw and the best part about “living here” are all the kids she calls friends.

“I have lots of friends here and at school. My teacher‚s name is Miss Agent. She‚s my favorite teacher,” Evlynn said, with a soon-to-be famous smile.

“I like recess and I like coloring and playing with my friends. Those are my favorite things to do at school,” she said.

“The water park is one of her favorite places to come to especially during the summer months when the Splash Pad is on. She‚s now learned how to push the buttons to make the water come out,” Hales said, laughing.

Evlynn said she brings her favorite toys with her to the park.

“I like throwing my frisbee around with my friends. I also have a squishy toy and my panda I take everywhere,” she said, smiling.

Evlynn said at home she enjoys playing her X-Box and with her Barbie Dolls.

“My favorite colors are pink, red, yellow and blue!” she said.

Evlynn said at home she has a “JoJo Siwa” bed she‚s pretty proud of, according to grandmother.

“I love Jo Jo Siwa. I like to dance,” she said, smiling.

Her grandmother explained JoJo Siwa, is a dancer and singer on YouTube.

According to background information, Jojo Siwa is known for appearing for two seasons on Dance Moms with her mother and currently has singles “Boomerang” and

“Kid in a Candy Store.” She posts daily videos on her YouTube channel, “It‚s Jojo Siwa.”

When she grows up, Evlynn said she wants to help people.

Uncertain about what she wants to become in which she has plenty of time to decide, she said she wants to do something to help people especially her friends.

“I want to help them in case they‚re ever trapped or just need help. I don‚t know yet what I‚ll be,” she said.

“She‚s just always thinking about her friends,” her grandmother said.

“She‚s a delightful child. However, her attention span is pretty short!,” she said laughing as Evlynn hurriedly ran off to see train and all of it‚s noise coming down the track nearby.
