Why is the city this way?

I have lived in the city of Sallisaw for many years now. I‚ve seen lots of things that need fixing. But one major thing that makes me angry is the people and police of Sallisaw.

On any given day you can sit on my front porch and see cars driving down the streets. Some drive at a good and sensible speed and watch out for kids and bikes, but others aren‚t considerate at all. They come flying down the street speeding at a very high rate of speed, some as high as 80 mph. It‚s not only the people I‚ve seen, I‚ve seen the Sallisaw Police speeding down the streets, along with the Sheriff‚s Office and city vehicles.

Another thing is when they approach a stop sign. They do what is called a California stop by tapping the brakes and keep on going. I see it every day. Even the school buses are speeding and not coming to a full stop at the stop signs. I was a witness to a school bus that ran the stop sign and a car was coming down Mary Ave. and almost hit the bus broadside just as it was going to unload kids.

I barely see the Sallisaw Police go out and patrol the town. They mostly hang out at the police station eating donuts. The only time they come out is when there is a report of drugs or aliens coming through. They never come when called.

Example, the house next to me was being remodeled and it was broken into. I called and told them the guys were in there now. They never showed up until an hour and 45 minutes later. The thieves were never caught. The guy was out $5,000 worth of tools.

I don‚t know why the city is this way. As far as I know the mayor don‚t do anything to improve the city. I‚ve seriously thought of running for mayor of Sallisaw because I see the problems and know they need fixing. We need a change in the way the city is run and we have to look out for our children and ourselves. I‚m asking the people to speak up and tell these people to fix the problems now or we can vote them out.
