A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Bokoshe woman who is facing a felony charge of embezzlement from her employer, Dollar General.
Amber Moss, 37, was formally charged on July 13 in Sequoyah County District Court and a bench warrant was issued for her arrest the same day, according to court records.
Sallisaw Police officer LaLita Armer reported on July 6 that she met with an employee of Dollar General at the store on N. Kerr Blvd. The employee said between June 12 and 24, Moss allegedly made transactions caught on security video of her taking money on “reload cards” but not putting any money for the transactions into the cash register.
The probable cause affidavit showed the following transactions were conducted: $503.95 on June 12; $223.95 on June 18; $503.95, $425.95 and $503.95 on June 23; and $503.95 on June 24.
The employee told Armer that Moss was questioned about the transactions but reportedly admitted no guilt. However, she did admit to stealing a carton of cigarettes but went on to say that she paid for them the following day.
District Attorney Jack Thorp said the charge is punishable by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding one year or by a fine not exceeding $500, or both.
