Seven Local Softball Teams Begin Seasons Monday News Staff Thu, 08/04/2022 - 22:23

Seven local high school softball (fastpitch) teams are scheduled to be in action Monday at the start of the season.

SallisawThe Lady Diamonds of head coach Hillary Gehrke are scheduled to open their season at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Broken Bow.

Sallisaw will compete in District 4A8, which also includes Muldrow, Broken Bow, Checotah, Idabel, Poteau and Stigler.

MuldrowThe Lady Bulldogs and first-year head coach Luke Folkerts travel to Stilwell on Monday for a 5 p.m. nondistrictcontest in their first game ofthe season.

Muldrow is a member of District 4A8, along with Sallisaw, Broken Bow, Checotah, Idabel, Poteau and Stigler.

RolandThe Lady Rangers of head coach Dara Tyler are slated to begin their season on Monday at home against Spiro and Smithville. Varsity games will follow a 1:30 p.m. junior high game.

Roland, Vian, Kansas, Keys, Sequoyah-Tahlequah, Sperry and Spiro are members of District 3A-6 this season.

VianHead coach Albis Ramos and his Lady Wolverines are scheduled to visit Kansas at 5 p.m. Monday in a District 3A-6 game in their season opener.

Other members of District 3A-6 are Roland, Kansas, Keys, Sequoyah-Tahlequah, Sperry and Spiro.

CentralThe Lady Tigers and head coach Wes Green host Gans and Porum beginning at 4 p.m. on Monday in their first games of the season.

Central, Chouteau-Mazie, Howe, Hulbert, Oktaha, Panama and Pocola will compete in District 2A-6 this year.

GoreDusty Tidwell and his Lady Pirates are scheduled to play at Mounds Monday in their first contest. The District 2A-7 game will follow the junior high contest, which gets underway at 4:30 p.m.

Gore, Dale, Mounds, PorterConsolidated, Preston, Rejoice Christian, Stroud and Warner are members of District 2A-7.

GansThe Lady Grizzlies of head coach James Henry will take on Central and Porum at Central beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday.

This season Gans will compete in Class A, which does not have districts.

Webbers FallsThe Lady Warriors and head coach Kera Carter travel to Cameron on Monday for their season opener which is scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.

This year Webbers Fills will compete in Class A, which does not have districts.
