Former Central High School softball standout and co-valedictorian Sierra Jasna was recently named the assistant softball coach at the University of the Ozarks.
Denise Godwin, the head softball coach at the private four-year liberal arts university located in Clarksville, Ark., announced Jasna‚s hiring earlier this month.
“We are very excited to have Sierra join the coaching staff,” Godwin said. “As a former Eagle softball player I know she will do whatever it takes to help this program succeed. Her softball knowledge and work ethic as a player will help her easily transition into a coaching role.”
A four-year starter who earned All-Conference honors as a catcher for the
Eagles in 2021, Jasna recorded 70 career hits during her career at the NCAA Division III school.
Jasna, the daughter of Shawn and Dena Jasna of Sallisaw, also made the American Southwest Conference Academic All-Conference Team three times at the Ozarks. The Central graduate, who also played shortstop and third base during her career at Ozarks, was also a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athlete Team and President‚s List multiple times. Jasna graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor‚s degree in biology from the University of the Ozarks.
An All-State catcher at Central, Jasna was named to a Team USA team that traveled to Spain for games in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia following her high school career.
