A Muldrow woman has been arrested and charged after she was reportedly found intoxicated in someone‚s yard and going through vehicles.

Leeann Thibodeaux, 42, was charged August 2 in Sequoyah County District Court with a felony charge of burglary in the third degree and criminal misdemeanor counts of public intoxication and resisting an officer. She received a $1,500 bond and is now scheduled for an Aug. 10 arraignment with Associate District Judge Kyle Waters.

Sequoyah County Sheriff‚s deputy Galen Irving reported on the afternoon of July 27 he was dispatched to E. 1125 in Muldrow in reference to a female attempting to get inside the caller‚s residence. While en route, dispatch advised the female was outside and getting into the caller‚s vehicles.

Irving reported he arrived to find a woman dressed in black standing outside next to a vehicle. He asked her to step away from the vehicle so he could try and identify her, and noticed an odor of intoxicants about her person. The deputy reported she was unsteady on her feet and then identified herself as Thibodeaux.

Irvin asked her to stand by a vehicle, which at first she refused, but when he started walking towards her she complied.

The deputy then placed her under arrest for public intoxication and when he went to place handcuffs on her, she resisted. The deputy was then forced to grab her around the shoulders and use a leg sweep to take her to the ground, according to the probable cause affidavit.

This reportedly caused the deputy‚s forearm to go across Thibodeaux‚s neck. The deputy said Thibodeaux acted as if she couldn‚t breathe so he repositioned his arm and she attempted to bite his forearm. The deputy pulled his arm away, delivering three closed fist strikes to her head, stopping her from resisting. She was then handcuffed and EMS was called to check on her condition.

The callers who reported the woman told the deputy they were returning from getting food when they found the female standing in their yard. They recognized her as an acquaintance of their father and called to ask him if she was supposed to be at the residence. The father confirmed that she was not supposed to be there, according to the affidavit. One of the callers then went outside and told the female that she was not welcome and needed to leave. The caller said the woman then started walking toward him so he went back inside and locked the door. The caller said she then began beating and knocking on the door before walking away.

When the callers looked outside they saw the woman going through both of their dad‚s trucks in the driveway. They said they also believed that the woman walked into their gated backyard and possibly got into the swimming pool. The callers said they stayed inside until the deputy arrived.

Thibodeaux was checked by EMS and refused treatment. She was transported to the Sequoyah County Detention Center where she was charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, burglary and two outstanding warrants through the Roland Police Department.

If found guilty of burglary in the third degree, District Attorney Jack Thorp said it is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years.
