BY BILLIE ANTHONY

Today we didn‚t get to have a weigh in because of the electricity being off in the church and our scales are electric scales that weigh up to 1,000 pounds. So far, we have not seen that number. The air conditioning in the church is having problems. So, we all met at Ruger‚s Restaurant to have our Installation of Officers and our fourth anniversary as a TOPS Chapter.

The theme of our Installation of Officers was Fresh Fruit Salad submitted by Vicki Kaiser from Minnesota. This is the year we would like to make our chapter grow into a refreshing, colorful group of friends working together to help each other reach their goals for a healthy weight loss. We were up to 37 members before the Covid 19 pandemic. We hope to start growing again with a few new ideas. Since this our fourth year anniversary we are going to give anyone that joins in the month of August a $5 discount. Instead of $49 for a new member, the price to join will be $44. If you are a former member and membership expired in the last three years, you can still join for $37.

As we installed our new officers for the upcoming year, we mixed up a Fresh Fruit Salad to illustrate different ingredients working together for a common goal. Our weight recorder Donna and assistant weight recorder Virginia emptied red seedless grapes into the Fruit of the Spirit bowl and received their office pinnettes and flower; secretary/treasurer Doris emptied kiwi and bananas in the salad bowl and received her pinnettes; co-leader Neve emptied blueberries into the salad bowl and received her co-leader pinnette. Our Sunshine Lady, Annette received a flower and pinnette. As leader, I emptied strawberries into the salad bowl and received my leader‚s pinnette. A mixture of plain yogurt, sugar, lemon juice and vanilla made a delicious dressing for our fruit salad.

We are going on four years as a chapter. EVERYONE is invited to visit. The first visit is FREE. It cost $49 a year to join TOPS Club INC. We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10am and the meeting starts at 11am and ends at 12. For more info, please call Billie at 918/413-1383. We look forward to meeting you.
