Sequoyah County Commissioners approved a claim form Monday to replace the bridge over Garvin Bridge Creek in Central Community.
Dist. 3 Commissioner Jim Rogers said the project is scheduled to begin in September but that is “subject to change,” depending on the contractors.
The project, which will include replacing the entire bridge, will take several months to complete, Rogers said.
“In the beginning, they had proposed to get the work done during this summer (June, July and August) so it wouldn‚t disrupt the daily school traffic. But I‚m guessing it may take about eight months for the entire completion of the project and that is “always subject to change,” he said.
“There may be some detours for the school buses which have to use that bridge but we‚ll accommodate them,” Rogers said.
In other business, the commissioners approved an agreement between the county and Bea Allen to work on some private property in District 3.
They also approved a Federal Lands Highway Agreement and Modification for District 2.
Under new business, the commissioners approved a reimbursements submitted for the Redwood Road Resurfacing state project.
