Local Grid Teams Will Scrimmage This Week News Staff Tue, 08/16/2022 - 22:01

All seven of the county high school football teams and Webbers Falls will scrimmage other teams this week as the teams prepare for their season openers.

Seven of the local teams (Sallisaw, Muldrow, Roland, Vian, Gore, Gans and Webbers Falls) will start their seasons during Zero Week (Aug. 25 or 26) and have only one preseason scrimmage. Central will scrimmage twice since the Tigers open their season at home against Heavener on Sept. 2.

VIAN WOLVERINES Vian will travel to Tahlequah Friday for its scrimmage at Sequoyah. Roland and Checotah will also participate in the four-way scrimmage, which is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m.

The Wolverines host Washington in their season opener next Friday (Aug. 26).

GORE PIRATES Gore is also on the road Friday as it goes to Heavener for its scrimmage, which is scheduled to get underway at 6:30 p.m.

The Pirates journey to Wilburton next Friday (Aug. 26) in their season opener.

Webbers Falls scrimmages at South Coffeyville on Friday.

The Warriors open their season at Regent Prep in Tulsa next Friday (Aug. 26).

CENTRAL TIGERS Central is scheduled to scrimmage Keys and Stigler at Keys on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m.

The Tigers‚ second scrimmage will be at Morris next Friday (Aug. 26).

GANS GRIZZLIES Gans will travel to Maud for a scrimmage starting at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The Grizzlies host Oaks in their first game of the season next Friday (Aug. 26).

MULDROW BULLDOGS Muldrow takes on Panama at 6 p.m. Friday in its two-way home scrimmage.

The Bulldogs host Roland in their season opener next Thursday (Aug. 25).

Roland will journey to Sequoyah-Tahlequah on Friday and Vian and Checotah will also participate in the four-way scrimmage, which is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m.

The Rangers visit Muldrow in their first game of the season next Thursday (Aug. 25). SALLISAW BLACK DIAMONDS Sallisaw hosts Grove in its scrimmage on Friday.

The Black Diamonds start their 2022 season at Stigler next Friday (Aug. 26).
