The Gore Board of Trustees met on Aug. 9 where they approved a price increase for the town‚s trash service, received an update on work at Haven Heights, and approved several other items from the previous month.
After some discussion regarding Sue‚s Recycling, a motion was made by Trustee Larry Pack to approve a price increase for Town of Gore Trash Service with Sue‚s Recycling, with a second motion from Mayor Bob Warren, with all other trustees voting yes.
Gideon Miller presented the board information regarding Haven Heights. Miller said the drains are working and they‚ve created a by-pass for cars, so there are no issues with a road block.
“We haven‚t had any issues with water. Come fall it will be ready to finish. We just need to put a drain in one soft spot and clean up the rest. It‚s looking really good,” Miller said.
Gore Police Chief Chris Goforth reported it was a slow month for tickets, citing 16 tickets for July, and that thefts were up in town.
Also approved during the meeting were, Ordinance No. 08/09/2022-1 (Mobile Homes, Manufactured Homes); Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) FY 2023 Application; Resolution 08-09-2022-1 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) FY 2023; Requisitioning and Receiving Officers for the Town of Gore for the Sequoyah County Commissioners; Day in the Park Activities; and building a storage building for the Little League Football at the Steve Owens Sports Complex.
Gore Public Works Authority (GPWA) Administrator Jeremy Lane reported a water loss of 13 percent. Lane said GPWA is filing for REAP Grant 2022-2023, and there is still $18,0000 left to spend on last year‚s grant. He said expenses are up, they need new medias, and are back washing three times a day.
The Gore Board of Trustees meets the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Gore Municipal Building.
