Exercise doesn’t have to be a scary word

By Billie Anthony

Exercise doesn’t have to be a scary word Billie Anthony Thu, 08/25/2022 - 19:27

Monday we had eight members attendance. Three lost weight this week with Donna being our biggest weight loss with 2 pounds. Way to go, Donna! Keep up the good work! Leader‚s challenge this week is to do at least two of the strength training exercises three days.

Our program today was Reframing Strength Training. Get stronger with these three full-body moves. What do you think of when you hear the word “exercise”? If the term brings to mind images of body builders, Olympic athletes and marathon runners, it‚s time to change how you think! Exercise can be as simple as taking a walk, going for a bike ride or doing gentle stretches. Day-to-day activities–things like household chores and yard work—can also count as exercise. See? “Exercise” doesn‚t have to be a scary word after all. And no matter what your ability, you can always find a way to get in some physical activity at home, at work, in a park, practically anywhere— even with something as simple as a chair.

Next Monday will be our chapter fun day, so we have invited a young lady to speak about Medicare Advantage. We will teach some crocheting to those who do not know how to crochet time permitting.

We are encouraging other‚s to join our chapter and since we are celebrating our 4th year anniversary we are going to give anyone that joins in the month of August a $5 discount. Instead of $49 for a new member, the price to join will be $44. If you are a former member and membership expired in the last three years, you can still join for $37. If you want to visit us to see what happens at a TOPS meeting, your first visit is free.

We are going on four years as a chapter. EVERYONE is invited to visit. The first visit is FREE. It cost $49 a year to join TOPS Club INC. We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10am and the meeting starts at 11am and ends at 12. For more info, please call Billie at 918/413-1383. We look forward to meeting you.

Donna had the best weight loss of the week.
