MULDROW ¬ – Sallisaw scored a combined seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to overcome a 1-0 deficit Tuesday at Lady Bulldog Field as the Lady Diamonds downed Muldrow 7-1 in the District 4A-8 high school softball game.

In the first inning Sallisaw‚s Emily Gregory and Muldrow‚s Allison Goodwin registered a hit apiece for their respective teams.

The Lady Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. With two outs Addison Jackson reached on an error and scored on Amaya Duran‚s RBI double down the third base line.

Gregory led off the top of the fourth with a double to center field and moved to third on Camdyn Johnson‚s fly out to right center field but a ground out and a fly out ended the scoring threat.

Jackson singled to right field with two outs in the Muldrow fourth but a ground out ended the atbat.

In the top of the fifth Johnson doubled to right center field and Cambree Scott walked before Madison Green‚s groundout advanced the runners to second and third. After Gregory was intentionally walked to load the bases, Emma Lessley‚s walk allowed Sallisaw to tie the score at 1-1. An error on a ground ball put in play by Makenna Bormann resulted in two more runs to make the score 3-1.

Muldrow did not have a baserunner in the bottom of the fifth and Sallisaw registered its final four runs in the top of the sixth. Sydney Weedon doubled to right field with one out before Johnson walked and Scott‚s flyout advanced the runners. Green went to first after being hit by a pitch to load the bases and Gregory‚s double to right center field scored three runs to give Sallisaw a 6-1 advantage before Lessley‚s double to left field drove in the final run.

The Lady Bulldogs‚ Lani Israel singled to right field with one out in the Muldrow sixth but the senior remained at first following a flyout and a ground out.

Neither team produced a base runner in the seventh inning.

Gregory (7.0 innings), who picked up the win inside the circle, struck out four and allowed four hits and no walks for the Lady Diamonds.

Jaydin Dean (5.2) struck out two and walked four while giving up five hits for the Lady Bulldogs and in relief Duran (1.1) struck out one and allowed one hit.

Gregory went 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles while driving in three runs, Johnson, Lessley and Weedon registered a double apiece and Lessley drove in two runs.

For the Lady Bulldogs Duran hit a double and drove in a run and Israel, Goodwin and Jackson each had a single.
