In a contest that ended at halftime because of inclement weather Muldrow improved to 2-0 for the season Thursday night with a 41-0 victory over Sequoyah-Tahlequah inside Aubrey J. Henshaw Bulldog Stadium.

On Friday night Muldrow visits Sallisaw and Sequoyah hosts Eufaula.

“Last week I told the kids that it (inclement weather) was a possibility and ball security was a must,” Muldrow head coach Brandon Ellis said. “Turnovers were going to be big this game and it proved to be a difference maker.”

The Bulldogs had no turnovers in the contest but Muldrow‚s defense recovered two Sequoyah fumbles in the game, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

Ellis said Marty Rogers Field was wet at game time because of a shower earlier in the day and more rain started to fall about 8 p.m.

“We had two lightning delays during halftime and so it was pushing it back even further, and the second half was eventually canceled,” said Ellis.

Muldrow quarterback Camden Matthews rushed for a 9-yard touchdown in the opening period and David Frias‚ point-after kick gave the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead.

The Bulldogs recorded five touchdowns in the second stanza. Matthews ran for a 25-yard touchdown before running back/wide receiver Trenden Collins crossed the goal line following a 36-yard run as Muldrow led 21-0 following Frias‚ PATs.

Later in the period Collins scampered 35 yards for a TD and Frias‚ extra-point kick made the score 28-0.

After defensive lineman Eli Crumrine returned a Sequoyah fumble 12 yards for a touchdown Collins raced 44 yards for the final six-pointer of the contest.

Collins rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries in the game, Matthews added 97 yards and two TDs on eight attempts and Cody Gibbs totaled 25 yards on one run.

Both of Matthews‚ pass attempts were incomplete.

Muldrow‚s leading tacklers were Gibbs and Jacob Gregory (5 total tackles apiece), Will Stratmann and Collins (4 each), Bryson Limore and Crumrine (3 apiece) and Logan Landers and Braxton Miller (2 each). Gibbs had two tackles for loss and Gregory, Limore and Landers added one each.

Mason Osborne and Crumrine each recovered a fumble and Stratmann registered a sack.
