Cookson man dies in motorcycle accident Amie Cato-remer Tue, 09/06/2022 - 21:37

The cause of a collision that killed a Cookson man on Sept. 5 remains under investigation as of press time.

According to an accident report issued by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Chad Backward #797 of the Cherokee/Adair County detachment of Troop C, the accident happened just before 8 a.m. on Hwy. 82 at E. 915 Road, about a mile south of Cookson in Cherokee County.

Backward reported Thomas Montapertol, 65, was driving a 2018 Harley Davidson and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The trooper said Montapertol was wearing a helmet.

Backward was assisted by Trooper Anthony Dodson #838, Lt. Kane Wyatt #114 and Cpt. Josh Lawson #29, all of the Cherokee/Adair detachment of Troop , along with the Cherokee County Sheriff‚s Office and Cookson Fire Department.
