Going ape for art

The eye-popping red gorilla mural is now complete, according to local artist Daniel Walters. Walters said the mural, which was commissioned by Megaphone and Eddie Martin, owner of the building at 110 N. Elm Street in Sallisaw, took most of August to complete. Megaphone, which utilizes the Red Gorilla logo and slogan “Market Like a Beast,” provides web design, video production and other marketingrelated services. “We‚ve received a lot of interest on the mural,” says Lance Montgomery, co-owner of Megaphone. “We believe the art enhances the community‚s quality of life, and we want to give a platform to local artists to express their talent, vision and creativity in a way the community can enjoy.” The company also plans to host a pop-up art gallery on Oct. 1, which will feature artwork by Walters and three other local artists.
