Sallisaw has a new fire engine to serve the community. e 2022 E1 Typhoon Fire Pumper was recently purchased by the city. The new pumper replaces a 1991 E1 unit, which will be moved to a reserve pumper.
“We were fortunate to find this unit on the lot and ready for purchase,” said Sallisaw City Manager Keith Skelton. “We had been researching purchasing a new unit for about three years now. Back in May, Chief Fire and Safety of Chickasha called our fire chief and told him they had a new demo unit if we wanted to look at it. We quickly placed a deposit on the unit and then completed the purchase in July. Otherwise, it could have been two to three years for us to receive a new unit.”
The E1 Typhoon custom chassis has a 1,000-gallon water tank, along with plenty of storage for firefighting tools, hoses and ladders. It is also equipped with a rear hose reel, fire monitor and a firefighting foam system. The cost of the unit was $592,734. “This unit will help the city maintain its current ISO rating as well as serve the community for over 30 Armstrong said. “All the E1 units we have had in the department have been very dependable over the years. The unit is now fully stocked with equipment and supplies, and has already responded to several calls in the community.”
Engine 9 of the Sallisaw Fire Department is a new 2022 E1 Typhoon, which was placed into service last week.
