Sallisaw, Muldrow start playoffs

Sallisaw and Muldrow‚s softball (fastpitch) teams start playoff action on Thursday with play-in series against Cleveland and Oologah-Talala, respectively.

The Lady Diamonds will host Cleveland in its best two-out-of-three play-in series at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the if-necessary game is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs‚ series at Oologah gets underway at 1 p.m. and Game 2 will begin at about 2:30 p.m. The if-necessary contest would follow. Oologah is located about 12 miles northw...

Sallisaw and Muldrow were both 5-7 in District 4A-8 games this season but the Lady Diamonds owned the tiebreaker.

Oologah and Cleveland placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in District 4A7.

The winners of the play-in series advance to regional tournaments next week.

The high school softball seasons ended Thursday for Vian, Gans and Webbers Falls‚ teams.

VIAN The Lady Wolverines, who finished fifth in the District 3A-6 standings this season, lost 6-2 and 10-3 at Dewey in their play-in series on Thursday.

Dewey (15-17 overall) hosted the best twoout- of-three series after placing fourth in 3A-5 and advanced to this week‚s regional tournament at Tishomingo.

Vian was 14-20 this season.

GANS The Lady Grizzlies traveled to Red Oak for their Class A district tournament Thursday and losses to Quinton (15-3) and No. 6 Red Oak (13-0) ended their 2022 season.

Gans was 13-14 this year.

WEBBERS FALLS The Lady Warriors played their Class A district tournament at Keota and were defeated by Afton (14-3) and No. 20 Keota (13-0).

Webbers Falls was 1-12 this season.

ROLAND, CENTRAL, GORE Roland, Central and Gore did not qualify for the playoffs in their respective districts.

Roland (15-12 for the season) was sixth in the 3A-6 standings, Gore (1213) finished sixth in 2A-7 and Central (8-24) placed seventh in 2A-6.
