Vian overcame a firstquarter deficit by scoring 44 unanswered points Friday night inside Eagle Stadium as the Wolverines started District 2A-5 play with a convincing win at Warner.

This week Vian (2-2 overall) hosts Roland in a homecoming game while Warner (3-1) visits Okemah. In the first period of Friday‚s game the Eagles took a 7-0 lead when quarterback Jace Jackson completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to fullback Ty Vinson before Keden Moseley kicked the extra point with 3:59 remaining.

A minute later Desean Mays‚ 52-yard touchdown and conversion run gave the Wolverines an 8-7 advantage and with 1:13 left in the first Draighton Fletcher caught a 34-yard touchdown throw from quarterback Diego Ramos. The Wolverines led 16-7 following Nathan Creasey‚s conversion pass to Riley Ellis.

Vian took a 38-7 lead to the locker room at the half after registering three touchdowns in the second stanza. At the 9:31 mark Mays crossed the goal line after a 40-yard run and on the two-point conversion Jacob Brannick caught Ramos‚ pass.

Ramos completed a 61yard touchdown toss to Brannick with 6:48 left before the half but the c o n v e r s i o n (pass) was no good. Brannick and Ramos teamed up for a 21yard touchdown completion with 1:33 to go and Mays ran for the conversion.

Mays completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Masyn Wright with 4:25 remaining in the third and the pointafter kick was no good.

Warner‚s Preston Cannon rushed for a 12-yard touchdown with 9:37 left in the fourth and Moseley‚s PAT ended the scoring.

Ramos completed 10-of-13 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns in the contest, Mays was 1-for-1 (15 yards) and Creasey was 1-for-2 (15).

Catching the throws for Vian were Brannick (3 catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns), Wright (2 for 38 and a TD), Fletcher (1 for 34 and a TD), Mays (3 for 19), Triston Wiley (1 for 15) and Creasey (2 for 13).

Vian‚s leading rushers were Mays (5 carries for 111 yards and two touchdowns), Wright (20 for 74), Fletcher (5 for 19) and Gage Carlton (2 for 14).

The Wolverines totaled 426 yards (205 passing and 221 rushing) of total offense in the game.

“We started off slow,” Vian head coach Gary Willis said. “They came out with more energy and momentum than us I think. We came out flat and they came out really juiced up. They scored and woke the boys up and we started playing. We got it going and ended up having a good game but early there they got after us the first two drives.”

Jackson completed 2-of-9 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown and Vinson caught both throws.

Cannon led the Eagles in rushing with 26 attempts for 94 yards and a touchdown.

Warner registered 105 yards (24 passing and 81 rushing) of total offense in the game.
