The unbeaten Class A No. 2 Pirates posted their third shutout of the season Friday night in their 61-0 homecoming victory over Canadian.

This week the Pirates (5-0 overall and 1-0 in the district) visit Pocola and Canadian (0-5 and 0-2) takes on Panama at home.

Early in the opening period Gore quarterback Noah Cooper completed a 43-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Liam Edwards before Christian O‚Connor kicked the point-after.

Gunner Dozier ran for a 20-yard touchdown with 7:08 left in the quarter and Cooper rushed for a 43yard TD two minutes later. O‚Connor‚s PAT gave the Pirates a 20-0 lead.

Dozier scored the first two touchdowns of the second stanza on runs of 30 and 19 yards and Gore led 34-0 at the 8:45 mark.

On the ensuing kickoff Hunter McGee recovered a fumble in the end zone and with 2:56 remaining before the intermission Jackson Duke crossed the goal line following a 15-yard run.

The Pirates led 47-0 at the half. In the third quarter Alex Hallum ran for a 10-yard touchdown and Bladin McCartney rushed for a 12yard TD. Duke‚s point-after kick ended the scoring.

“Being homecoming I thought we played really well,” Gore head coach Brandon Tyler said. “I thought we came out with a lot of intensity, a lot of emotion, considering all of the distractions that were going on in the middle of the week and before the game. But it seemed like our kids were pretty focused on the challenge and came out and took care of business early. Everybody got to play so that‚s always good and just pleased with the way we played. It was a good ball game, a good homecoming win.”

Gore‚s leading rushers in the game were Dozier (4 carries for 77 yards), Cooper (2 for 55), Duke (3 for 38) and McCartney (3 for 18).

Cooper completed 1-of-2 passes for 43 yards and Edwards had the reception. James Brasuell was 3-of-3 for 20 yards and Beau Brown caught the throws.

Gore‚s leading tacklers were Dayne Perryman, Garrett Douthit and Duke (6 total tackles apiece), Gabe Dozier, Gunner Dozier and Cooper (5 each), McCartney (4) and Edwards (3).

Registering tackles for loss were Duke and Gabe Dozier (4 each), Perryman, Douthit and Gunner Dozier (3 apiece).

Cas Moore and Douthit recovered a fumble apiece in the game.
