MUSKOGEE–A pair of losses to top-seeded Hilldale and second-seeded Berryhill Wednesday afternoon at Hilldale High School ended Muldrow‚s softball (fastpitch) season at the Class 4A Hilldale Regional.

The Lady Bulldogs (14-15), the fourth-seeded team in the regional tournament, lost 5-3 to Hilldale (22-9) in their first game before falling 10-0 to Berryhill (22-6).

In a winner‚s bracket game Hilldale defeated thirdseeded Poteau (23-14) 10-0 after the Lady Pirates had beaten Berryhill 3-1 in their tournament opener.

Hilldale 5, Muldrow 3 (Game 1) The Lady Bulldogs trimmed three runs off a 4-0 deficit in the top of the fifth inning but the top-seeded Lady Hornets hung on to edge Muldrow in its regional tournament opener.

In the top of the first inning Muldrow‚s Allison Goodwin singled to left field with two outs but a strikeout ended the at-bat.

Brooklyn Ellis led off the Hilldale first with a home run over the center field fence, and after Layne Sloan singled Lexi Cramp sent a pitch over the right field fence to make the score 3-0.

In the bottom of the third inning Cramp homered to give the Lady Hornets a 4-0 advantage.

The Lady Bulldogs‚ Allison Goodwin reached on an error with one out in the top of the fourth but two flyouts left the junior stranded at first.

An error allowed Jaydin Dean to go to first in the Muldrow fifth before Kaydence Young singled to left field. Lani Israel‚s ground single through the gap in left center field drove in courtesy runner Abby Corbit with the Lady Bulldogs‚ first run and two outs later Kiki Wight‚s two-RBI base hit to left field sent Young and Israel home with Muldrow‚s second and third runs.

In the bottom of the fifth with two outs Rylin Clark‚s single scored Ellis to give Hilldale a 5-3 lead.

An error allowed Ashley Price to advance to first with two outs in the Muldrow seventh but a flyout ended the game.

Ellis was the winning pitcher for the Lady Hornets and Dean was inside the circle for the Lady Bulldogs.

Berryhill 10, Muldrow 0 (Game 2) Berryhill led 1-0 after the first inning before scoring a combined eight runs in the second and third frames as the Maidens went on to down the Lady Bulldogs in their second contest of the tournament.

Berryhill registered three runs in the second and five in the third before ending the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth.

With one out in the top of the first Kiki Wight reached on an error before advancing to second on Allison Goodwin‚s groundout but a strikeout finished the at-bat.

Lani Israel led off the Muldrow third with a double that bounced off the right field fence before Ashley Price walked but a pair of flyouts and a fielder‚s choice ended the scoring threat.

Jaydin Dean (2.0 innings) and Kaydence Young (2.0) pitched for the Lady Bulldogs in the contest.
