Freedom of the Press

Dear Editor, Will Rogers said, “Never argue with anyone that buys ink by the barrel.” I appreciate the Sequoyah County TIMES because they print letters from individuals; we have the freedom of speech, like the press, but we have no right to demand they print our letters; yet they do and I appreciate that. I may be the only one that agrees with my opinion and they still print it; I appreciate that.

I suspect the majority does not realize the importance of our first amendment. If we have any insight at all to look to the future and accurately visualize the society without the first amendment; that means the people have no voice, therefore the Government would destroy the second amendment and it would be HATE SPEECH, to speak out against it, therefore they would destroy all the rest, from the Bill of Rights, until we have no liberty, no rights and no freedom to gripe.

Some of us recognize that our freedoms are being challenged and chipped away daily by a Satanic spirit (influence) that is Anti-Christ: Satan‚s evil work is being accomplished in the public schools in some of their curriculum, their method and bad rules and policies that hinder the teacher from turning out great students. Many cannot read, write or do math at the third grade level when most should learn that in the first grade.

There are so many dysfunctional homes that many school children do not know anything about family values, they do not respect teachers, no respect for police, they cannot hold a job, they get dishonorable discharges from military service and usually they are a menace to society because they lie, cheat and steal.

What is the solution? Jesus Christ is the answer; we need and want Jesus in all classrooms, Jesus in all local and state Government, Jesus in Washington D.C. and Jesus in all families. We can envision a Heaven on earth atmosphere if that would happen and it can happen if God‚s people would surrender their whole heart to Jesus, study the bible, pray, listen, believe, trust and obey.

Let‚s promote this Godly revival for our good and God‚s glory! Let‚s go to a church that preaches the bible scriptures and challenges us to live for God and explains the simplicity of the Gospel of Christ and its power to save people from the guilt and penalty of sin: it‚s power to save from a Devils Hell to a Godly Paradise. Good manners and good morals dwell in the hearts of those sold out to Jesus.

PASTOR CURTIS MITCHELL , NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH
