Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers on Oct. 4 confiscated over 700 one-pound bundles of marijuana during a routine traffic stop on Interstate-40.
Jacob J. Conner, 30, of Chesapeake, Va. was charged on Oct. 5 with one felony count of trafficking in illegal drugs in Sequoyah County District Court and received a $26,000 bond. He is now set to appear for a Dec. 7 felony disposition docket before Associate District Judge Kyle Waters.
Trooper Clint Craft reported stopping a motorhome at the 306 mile marker (near Sallisaw) for speeding and said the driver, Conner, appeared extremely nervous. Craft asked Conner to step back to his patrol unit so he could issue him a warning for speeding and Conner‚s nervousness never dissipated, according to the trooper‚s report.
Trooper Daran Koch was asked to come to the location with his drug K-9 to conduct a free air sniff of the motorhome where the dog reportedly alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics. Conner told authorities he had a THC vape pen in the motorhome and a search was conducted.
Craft said troopers found about 703 vacuum-sealed bundles of a green leafy substance throughout the motorhome, which tested positive for marijuana.
Conner was arrested and taken to the Sequoyah County Detention Center where he was booked in on the charge.
