OKLAHOMA CITY – Remington Park Leading rider Cristian Torres pulled off the first four-bagger of the meet for a jockey and extended his lead in the standings to 17 over second-place Stewart Elliott.

The successful night began with a bang in the first race as Torres was a winner right out of the gate, aboard 3-5 post-time favorite No People in a maiden, claiming $7,500 race. The horse drew off to a six-length win and the rush for Torres was on. He finished the night with four trips to the winner‚s circle and 51 victories after 40 nights of racing. Elliott, who was shut out with his four mounts Wednesday, has 34 wins on the season.

Torres rode No People for trainer Robertino Diodoro, who had two winners on Wednesday with the top jock in the saddle. They also combined for a victory in the eighth race with Princedreamcess at 7-5 odds in a firstlevel featured allowance race. That 3-year-old filly was a winner by 4-1/4 lengths for owner Flying P Stable (Jason Provenzano) of Levittown, N.Y. The sophomore daughter of Jess‚s Dream, out of the Mineshaft mare Riviera Blue, covered the six furlongs on the main track in a swift 1:10.39 on the fast track. She shot out of the gate like she had been shot out of a cannon, quickly building a three-length lead after only a quarter of a mile in :21.99 seconds. She maintained that lead all the way into the stretch, setting fractions of :44.66 for the half-mile and 57-seconds for five-eighths of a mile.

Princedreamcess earned $20,298 from the $34,000 purse and improved her lifetime mark to eight starts, two wins, two seconds and $54,049 earned. She was bred in Florida by Cherie Abner and Michael Bossio.

Torres‚ other two wins came for leading trainer Karl Broberg in the third and fifth races. Those two victories gave Broberg 31 wins for the meet, 10 ahead of Steve Asmussen, the all-time winningest trainer in the sport. Those two are currently Nos. 1 and 2 in the nation in wins. Asmussen has won 17 training titles at Remington Park.

Broberg‚s winners with Torres up were Zinasdestinyvirago by three lengths in the third race as the 6-5 favorite in an allowance race for nonwinners of two lifetime and Fredonian in the fifth race by 3-1/4 lengths at 4-5 odds. All totaled, Torres‚ four winning horses won by a combined 16-1/2 lengths on Wednesday night.

JOCKEYS DAVID CABRERA, OBED SANCHEZ INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT DURING FIFTH RACE WEDNESDAY, HORSES OK Two jockeys, David Cabrera and Obed Sanchez, were involved in an accident when they were thrown from their horses in the fifth race at Remington Park on Wednesday night. Both horses, Dobbins G and Rockport Kat, respectively, crossed the finish line under their own power, without riders, and were uninjured.

The incident occurred in the turn for home when Dobbins G, Cabrera‚s mount, appeared to have clipped heels with a horse in front of him. Dobbins G fell, sending Cabrera sprawling to the track and Rockport Kat leaped over him, sending Sanchez high into the air before landing on the track. Rockport Kat managed to keep his feet after jumping a fallen Dobbins G.

Both jockeys were attended to by medical professionals as they lay on the track. Sanchez was transported to a local hospital, according to his agent Travis Church. Cabrera‚s agent, Jose Santos, Jr., said his rider was examined in the ambulance and eventually walked back to the jockeys‚ quarters on his own. Santos later added that Cabrera showered and headed to the hospital to get an X-ray “to make sure all is well.”

“We are at the hospital right now in the trauma center,” Church said of Sanchez around 11pm-Central. “He is awake and talking. Waiting for tests and X-rays.”
