The Central Tigers won 40-12 against Canadian on Senior Night for their last regular-season game Thursday, and are headed to Quapaw this week for their first playoff game. Central head coach Jeremy Thompson was pleased with the performance, and has already tuned his attention to preparing his charges for the Wildcats this Friday.

“We threw and caught the ball well, blocked, and our pass protection up front was solid last Thursday night,” Thompson said. “Our quarterback, Joseph Lee, was 9-for-16 for 104 yards and two touchdowns.”

The Tigers had a slower start than usual, and the distractions of Senior Night and a big win against Panama might be to blame.

“Coy Blackburn scored on a 10-yard run in the first quarter, and we went into halftime 24-0. After our big win on the road last week, we were a little flat.”

The offense was led by Joseph Lee, who had seven carries for 85 yards under center. Coy Blackburn had 14 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown, Cade Tucker added 73 yards on four catches and two touchdowns – one a five-yarder and a 14-yarder – followed by Conner Green with 44 yards on four carries and a touchdown pass to Xhaiden Mosby, who had three receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Mosby paced the Tigers’ defense with 11 tackles, followed by Blackburn with seven, Josh Marino with six and Issac Rogers recovering a fumble, with interceptions by Blackburn, Mosby and Aidan Sainer.

“Xhaiden had a big night. After the half, we were able to get some of the younger guys in there to get some experience. I think that we did a good job overall and got things going. We’re definitely excited about this week versus Quapaw.”

The Tigers hit the road for the first round of the playoffs for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the Wildcats.
