Mobile museum exhibit brings fossils to Muldrow

Sequoyah County students and community members have the chance to view authentic dinosaur fossils through the Mobile Museum of Earth History, a traveling exhibit that will be on display Nov.13-16 at First Baptist Church of Muldrow.

The free exhibit features as many as 20 different specimens and replicas available in science, which includes authentic fossils of Tyrannosaurus rex, Pterodactyl, Triceratops, Pteranodon, Albertosaur “and a lot of other large dinosaurs — fossils, anyway,” says Mark Porter, pastor at FBC Muldrow. “Hopefully they’re not alive.”

The dynamic display, presented by Creation Truth Foundation based in Noble, has been seen by more than 100,000 people in the past five years, and continues to awe both young and old.

“We’re inviting the schools — we’ve sent out letters to the schools,” Porter says about hosting a school-age audience. “We can schedule times for the kids to see them, so I’m trying to work it out with the schools as far as when they can come.

“This is an opportunity to see things you wouldn’t necessarily see. These are the actual fossils,” Porter says.

“What they’ll do for the schools is they’ll do a 45-minute presentation. That also gives time for the kids to come up to the dinosaur fossils and see them and take pictures with them, things like that.”

Porter says he talked with Creation Truth Foundation for almost a year — “they’re scheduled that far out” — to arrange for the exhibit to come to Muldrow.

The mobile museum exhibit will be set up in the sanctuary of the church, located at 605 E. Shawntel Smith Boulevard. Matt Miles, president of Creation Truth Foundation, will present a series of seminars on creation at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, as well as 6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday. Visits by the schools will be scheduled during the day.

While the presentations include fun facts about the dinosaurs and other fossils, one goal is also to remind individuals to be critical thinkers.

For information and to schedule a school field trip presentation, call Porter at 307-631-7653. To learn about the Creation Truth Foundation ministry, visit www. creationtruth.com.

Creation Truth Foundation will also have books, videos and the Truth In Science home-school curriculum for grades 3-6 available for purchase.
