Seay resigns from seat, appointment to be made
The Vian Board of Education approved a resolution to call for the annual Board Election during its October monthly meeting. The election will be for Board Seat #3 for a five-year term. The board also agreed to appoint someone to the empty seat, according to meeting minutes.

The Vian Board of Education approved a resolution to call for the annual Board Election during its October monthly meeting. The election will be for Board Seat #3 for a five-year term. The board also agreed to appoint someone to the empty seat, according to meeting minutes.
Following an executive session, the board announced they were also accepting the resignation of Gary Seay, who holds Board Seat #1 and to discuss the appointment of that seat. During public comment, John Ford said he would be interested in becoming a member.
Also accepted by the board was the resignation of teacher’s aide, Becky Heflin, effective immediately.
In financial matters, encumbrance #424-#455 and changes for a net increase of $89,175.44 within the 2022-23 General Funds, and changes of $0 within the 2022-23 Building Fund and Building Bond Fund, #1 and change for a net increase of $4,665 within the 2022-23 Sinking Fund, were all approved.
Also given a green light during the meeting were:
• Use of multiple occupancy restrooms and changing areas
• Items for surplus
• Agreement with CCOSA District Level Program for 2022-23
• 2022-23 Middle School Gifted and Talented Academic Bowl Team, coached by Melissa Winans and Erica King.
