Stewart did her training at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, Ill. After her training she served at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Corvallis, Ore. She received her honorable discharge on March 11, 1946.
Stewart is the daughter of Sequoyah Taylor and Willie Phay Hill.
