Clark served in Belgium and Germany during World War II.
His sister, Tiny, recalls within two weeks of his enlistment, he was off to Germany. After arriving, they were loaded into box cars and sent to the front lines.
He fought in the Battle of the Bulge under General George Patton during the cold winter months.
Clark was hospitalized in France with trench foot, and as the result of his condition was disabled, receiving an early discharge after serving three years in the Army.
He is the son of Myrtle Taylor and Herman Clark. Clark has a son who served four years in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
