Sallisaw Veterans Day Ceremony planned for Friday
Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Post 27 invite the public to attend Sallisaw's annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday at Indian Capital Technology Center.
Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Post 27 invite the public to attend Sallisaw’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday at Indian Capital Technology Center.
Ernie Martens, Sallisaw mayor, will welcome attendees and Frank Sullivan III will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The American Legion will present the posting of colors and Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Paula Mouzakis, president of the American Legion Unit 27 Auxiliary. Holly Bormann with Carl Albert State College will perform the National Anthem, and Pastor Brandon Harris will deliver opening prayer.
John Bennett, USMC Retired, will serve as guest speaker and music will be performed by the Sallisaw Middle School choir.
Marty Green, director of the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce, will recite the Ragged Old Flag before the dedication of flags, and the American Legion Post 27 Honor Guard will retire the colors and present the laying of the wreath. Tessa Winton will end the ceremony with a performance of Taps.
