After seven years of offering a free Thanksgiving meal to those in our community, Bubba’s has announced they will not be hosting their traditional Thanksgiving meal this year due to the sale of the business.
Former owner Linda Casteel said the business has been sold to new owners so she and her family will not be serving food this holiday, as they have in the past.
“We (family and employees) really enjoyed doing this for people that didn’t have the money to buy a meal or have a place to go on Thanksgiving,” Casteel said. “And I can’t begin to list all the people that helped make this meal possible over the years. We never dreamed we would get the type of response that we did.”
The turkey was donated by Sadler Paper Co. in Muskogee each year, and desserts were donated by individuals in the community.
Casteel said they were blessed each year by people who contributed in their own way.
“You don’t see a need until you offer something like this but we all received a blessing from it and that’s why we did it. It made all the hard work worth it because there was always that one person that touched your heart,” she said.
