Sallisaw FCCLA Wins at Districts
Members of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America competed in the Northeast District 5 STAR Events. Districts were held in Tahlequah on Nov. 17 where students among 18 chapters competed in multiple categories. The Sallisaw Chapter brought eight competitors, all placing within the top three of their category and level.

Seniors, Katelyn Callahan and Kiera Eppler partnered up in Professional Presentation Level 3 and brought home first place.
For New Member Facts Level 1, Miriam Burmaster placed first and Level 2 competitor, Kloe Darcy placed third.
In the Children’s Literature category, e-books were authored by Lily Wood, placing second in Level 2. Janessa Cook authored and illustrated her e-book which placed third for Level 1.
Creed Speakers, Adriana Allen (Level 2) and Kadence Martinez (Level 1) both received third place with very high scores.
All first and second place winners of the Sallisaw Chapter advance to the next round of competitions. Fellow members of Sallisaw’s competitive team will be preparing new projects to showcase at Region STAR Events set for February in Commerce.
