Webbers Falls adopts Safe Routes to School Resolution

By Amie Cato-Remer Editor

During the Nov. 8 regular monthly meeting of the Webbers Falls Board of Trustees the board unanimously voted to adopt the Safe Routes to School Resolution following a presentation by students and coordinators with the TSET Healthy Living Program for Muskogee County.

During the Nov. 8 regular monthly meeting of the Webbers Falls Board of Trustees the board unanimously voted to adopt the Safe Routes to School Resolution following a presentation by students and coordinators with the TSET Healthy Living Program for Muskogee County.

The board listened as two students who attend Webbers Falls School (Elizabeth and Kaitlyn) conducted a presentation on the resolution while Doug Walton gave some input to the benefits of passing it. Tiffany Tolbert with TSET was also there to answer any questions the board might have.

After some discussion on possibly taking action on the selection of an engineer for the CDBG-DR 19 Wastewater Lagoon System Improvement Project, the board selected Infrastructure Solutions Group and authorized Mayor Johnny Pollard to enter into a contract as soon as funds are released.

During communications, police chief Wayne Cartwright and fire chief Shawn Smith both gave their department reports. Smith said calls had been slow, the burn ban had been lifted and the department was in the process of getting new voice pagers. City maintenance reported workers have cleaned up brush at the park and cleaned the cemetery.

The trustees also voted to transfer the second ARPA payment in the amount of $52,029.22 to the Special Account and approved meeting dates for 2023.

They unanimously voted to give a $750 one-time year-end stipend for all paid employees, which were issued on Nov. 15, according to meeting minutes.

Following an executive session, the board reconvened and announced they were moving employee Josh Pennington from part-time to full-time.
