The Vian Board of Trustees voted to sign a purchase contract between the town and Jesse Young during its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 21.

Town offices will be relocated

The Vian Board of Trustees voted to sign a purchase contract between the town and Jesse Young during its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 21.

Following an executive session to discuss the purchase/appraisal of real property, the board unanimously voted to purchase the former Miss Lilly’s restaurant building from Young.

According to town administrator Keith Boshers, the current Town Hall building will be sold and town offices will be moved to the Miss Lilly’s building.

The board also unanimously voted to approve approaching Vian Public School about transferring ownership of the property at Armstrong Park, which is currently owned by the school.

The resignation of police officer Kevin Mackey was accepted, along with the approval of employment of Jeremy McElhaney to the sanitation department.

A discussion was held on local projects but no votes were taken during that time. Boshers said the town currently has a total of 22 active building permits, which includes the construction of Love’s RV Park, the new Family Dollar/ Dollar Tree and high school, an alleyway project next to town hall, and a sidewalk project that is underway.

Also approved during the meeting were a mobile home permit application for Lot 2, Block 7, Springston Addition and Resolution 2022-002 authorizing OMAG to distribute escrow account funds.

The trustees secured regular meeting dates for 2023 for both the town and public works authority as well.

During the public works authority meeting, the trustees discussed options for painting the old water tower on Hwy. 64.

The Vian Board of Trustees meets the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. inside their quarters, which are located inside the Vian Police Department.
