Chamber announces Sallisaw Christmas parade, other contest winners

The Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce met on Dec. 14 for its final membership meeting of the year at First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw, where they announced the winners of this year’s Christmas parade, along with the winners for this year’s Store Front Decorating Contest and Deck the Lawn.

Charlie’s Chicken & BBQ is member of the month

The Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce met on Dec. 14 for its final membership meeting of the year at First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw, where they announced the winners of this year’s Christmas parade, along with the winners for this year’s Store Front Decorating Contest and Deck the Lawn.

The chamber had over 60 parade entries this year and 11 entries for the Store Front Decorating Contest.

Winners of this year’s Christmas parade, Store Front Decorating Contest and Deck the Lawn are as follows: Christmas Parade Business Category

First – Peters Agency Care Management Second – Elara Caring and Hospice Third – Complete OK Hospice Fourth – Hog Creek Auto & Salvage Fifth – National Bank of Sallisaw

First – Kingdom Builders Church Second – VFW Post 4518 & Auxiliary Third – First Baptist Church of Sallisaw Fourth – Celebrate Recovery Fifth – Pine Tree Baptist Church Schools and School organizations

First – Indian Capital Technology Second – Bear’s Cub House Daycare Third – Oklahoma Tribe Softball Fourth – Boys and Girls Club Fifth – Mrs. Ashley’s Childcare Front Store Decorating Contest Winners First – Old Sallisaw High School Association Second – Bear’s Cub House Tina Christie Third – Ivy Threads – Faith Hurst Deck the Lawn Contest Winners Frank and Diane Kelly Barbara Christie Diana Winiger Dwayne and Gloria Burgess Chelli Asbill During the announcement portion of the meeting, Amy Edwards gave an update on the Boys & Girls Club and it was announced Members Night Out would be held on Feb. 4, 2023.

The chamber thanked outgoing board members: Rhonda Nicholson with Belmont Management, Treye Girdner with Local Bank, Tyler Knoke with Firstar Bank, and Jordan Pace with Scoufus Law Offices.

New board members for 2023 were also announced: Zack Schaefer with BHC Insurance, Jaime Henson with Sallisaw Main Street and Diane Sanders with MGS Construction.

Member of the Month

Member of the month went to Charlie’s Chicken & BBQ. The business was established in Sallisaw on Aug. 24, 1984. It has been owned and operated by Larry and Lucy Randolph since the beginning and has now become a family-run business, employing daughter and son-in-law, Allysn and Jason Teehee and son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandra Randolph.

The business uses family recipes passed down for generations for its fried chicken, chunks and daily specials. It offers a daily buffet, catering available anytime and outstanding BBQ options.

The Randolphs have devoted their lives to the restaurant and continually giving back to their community.
