Webbers Falls started the contest with Teralynn Colston, Anistyn Garner and Bridgette Baer all registering threepointers, besting the Lady Mustangsʼ four points for a 9-4 lead in the first quarter.
The Okay squad was relegated to just two points from the line in the second quarter, while Garnerʼs field goal and Baerʼs trey increased the Lady Warriorsʼ lead to eight by halftime at 14-6.
In the third quarter, the Lady Mustangs registered 10 points to best the Lady Warriors by a lone point, trimming Webbers Fallsʼ advantage to seven points at the start of the fourth quarter.
Thatʼs when the Okay squad was able to step up its defense, while Leah Smith made two three-pointers and two from the free throw line for the majority of the 13 points Okay registered in the final stanza. The suddenly cold Lady Warriors werenʼt able to get anything to go in during the fourth quarter, with Colston registering the teamʼs lone three-pointer that wasnʼt enough to keep their lead at the final buzzer.
Webbers Falls (5-1) travel to Oaks Mission today for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
Okay boys 79, Webbers Falls 30 The Webbers Falls boys struggled against a tough fifth-ranked Class A Okay team Tuesday on the road.
The Mustangs are deep and experienced this year with talent to spare, and they put that to work early, outsourcing the Warriors 27-3 in the first quarter.
The Warriors put 11 points on the board in the second quarter, but the 18 points that Okay registered made the score a lopsided 45-14 going into halftime.
In the third quarter, Stryker Chappell got hot, scoring 11 points. Caden Dishman added two points for the Warriorsʼ 13 points, which the Mustangs offset with 15 points.
The Mustangsʼ defense was hard at it in the final period and the depth of their bench became a factor, as Okay scored 19 points while limiting the Warriors to a three-pointer by Preston Rowe.
Webbers Falls travel to Oaks Mission for an 8 p.m. game Friday.
