Eighteen Gore players selected to A-8 All-District team

The District A-8 coaches recently honored eighteen Gore High School football players and head coach Brandon Tyler.

Gunner Dozier chosen MVP, Tyler named top coach

The District A-8 coaches recently honored eighteen Gore High School football players and head coach Brandon Tyler.

The Gore players receiving special recognition were: Gunner Dozier (Most Valuable Player), Jackson Duke (co-Defensive Player of the Year), Garrett Douthit (Offensive Lineman of the Year), Gabe Dozier (Defensive Lineman of the Year), Dayne Perryman (Linebacker of the Year), Christian O’Connor (Special Teams Player of the Year) and Noah Cooper (Quarterback of the Year). Tyler was selected Coach of the Year.

Gore players named All-District were Layne Ward, Cas Moore and Nick Wolf (offensive linemen), Aidan Dickerson (tight end), Ben Kirkpatrick, Blue Steward and Journey Shells (wide receivers), Keigan Reid, Liam Edwards and Tyler L a n e (defensive backs) and Hunter McGee (punt returner).

Central’s Joseph Lee and Porter’s Billy Wiseley were selected co-Defensive Back of the Year.

The Pirates (6-0 in the district this season) won their fourth-straight A-8 title in 2022 and their last district loss came in 2018. The Class A state runnerup Pirates finished this season with a school-best 14-1 record.

Also receiving special recognition awards in the district were Haskell’s Brannon Westmoreland (Offensive Player of the Year), Haskell’s Junior Faul (co-Defensive Player of the Year), Pocola’s A.J. Lyons-Jerrell (Back of the Year), Pocola’s Garrett Scott (Receiver of the Year) and Pocola’s Brayden Hardwick and Porter’s Natalie Perry-Hunter (co-Newcomer of the Year).
