The Gore Board of Education during a special meeting on Dec. 13, voted to approve consent agenda items and a trip to Washington D.C. for students in the Gifted and Talented program.

The Gifted and Talented students were given the green light to go to Washington D.C. for a trip April 24 to 28, 2023, with sponsors Ms. Crumpler and Mr. Bliss.

The board convened into an executive session to conduct an annual superintendent evaluation of Lucky McCrary, and upon returning to open session, stated no votes or decisions were made.

McCrary spoke on the district budget update for 2022-23, board filings for the election, the press box, and elementary roofing proposal during his report, while the board also heard reports from Gore Lower Elementary Principal Tonya Pugh, and Upper Elementary and High School Principal James Bliss.

Under consent agenda items, the board approved fundraiser requests and expenditures, encumbrances and change orders, and transfer of a donation for teams from the Cherokee Nation. Cherokee Nation Tribal Councilor E.O. Smith Jr. deposited it into the athletics account and transfers are as follows:

• Football, $1,000

• Boys basketball, $500
