Muldrow teams sweep Sallisaw on the road

Muldrow prevailed in the Class 4A game against cross-county rival Sallisaw last Friday with the Bulldogs’ Trenden Collins scoring a game-high 26 points at Sallisaw’s Paul Post Field House.

It was a good night for Muldrow Bulldogs’ head coach Terry Collins and his squad, shutting down the Black Diamonds’ Sim Kilpatrick by holding him to five points on the night.

In the first quarter the Sallisaw Black Diamonds’ Broderick Cameron sank two treys for six points, Jackson Obregon made five points, Parker Jackson put four points on the board and Kilpatrick made a bucket for Sallisaw’s 17 points. The Bulldogs’ Collins made 10 points from two three-pointers, two buckets and two free throws, Jaxson Anstine made a three-pointer, a bucket and free throw for six points, Kashan Buhkari made a three- pointer, Nick Rhodes added a bucket and Andrew Luttrell added one from the mercy line giving Muldrow a five-point lead with 22 points at the end of the first period.

The Bulldogs struggled a little in the second quarter with Collins scoring four points and Parker Sevenstar making a 2-pointer for a total of six points. The Black Diamonds’ Obregon made three buckets for six points, Cameron made two 3-pointers and Jackson added a bucket for 14 points for 31 points at the half and a three-point edge going into halftime.

The Bulldogs were able to adjust at the half and registered 16 points behind the scoring of Collins and Luttrell (7 points apiece) and Sevenstar (2). The Black Diamonds totaled eight points and Cameron made a 3-pointer, with Braxton Lamb making two free throws, Jackson with a bucket and Obregon making one of his two attempts from the free throw line. Muldrow led by five (44-39) going into the fourth quarter.

The Black Diamonds’ Obregon made three buckets for six points, Jackson made two treys for six points and Cameron made a bucket for Sallisaw’s 17 points in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs answered with Collins making five points, Sevenstar making four points, Anstine making four free-throws, Luttrell making a 3-pointer and Kenoy Releford making two of four from the free throw line for Muldrow’s 18 points and a six-point lead at the buzzer.

The Lady Diamonds had trouble containing the physical Muldrow squad during Friday’s Class 4A contest at Paul Post Field House.

The Lady Bulldogs were having success shutting down Sallisaw’s Ellie Martin who was 5 of 12 from the free throw line and still managed 13 points matching Muldrow’s highest scorer Kennedi Wight.

In the first quarter the Lady Diamonds’ Molly Carver would be the lone scorer with four points and the Lady Bulldogs edged ahead by scoring nine points from combining Wight’s four points, Jensi Fields’ three points and Katelynn Moore’s basket.

Muldrow matched Sallisaw point for point in the second period with Claire Tabor scoring six points, Cailey Grinstead scoring five points and Kennady Moore making a bucket. The Lady Diamonds’ Martin made six points, Hannah Palmer added a trey and Emily Gregory made two points with the Bulldogs leading by five, 20-15 going into halftime.

Sallisaw’s Kayli Macon made a free throw and Martin added five points for the Lady Diamonds’ six in the third quarter. The Lady Bulldogs were able to pull away putting 18 points on the board with the help of Wight’s six points, Grinstead’s five points, Mason Anstine’s three points, Kennady Moore’s two points and Jensi Fields’ two free throws.

In the last quarter the Lady Diamonds were able to spread it around more getting points from Paige Diffee with three points, Carver and Martin with two apiece and one each from Abby Kate Qualls and Macie Gremillion for nine points. Muldrow would trail by a point making eight in the final stanza but they were ahead enough to still come out victorious with Katelynn Moore scoring three points, Wright making three free throws and Kennady Moore adding to two points.
