Roland girls, boys take third at Talihina’s CNIT
Roland’s high school basketball teams finished third Saturday at Talihina’s Choctaw Nation Invitational Tournament (CNIT).

Roland’s high school basketball teams finished third Saturday at Talihina’s Choctaw Nation Invitational Tournament (CNIT).
ROLAND GIRLS 50, BROKEN BOW 47 (SATURDAY)
The Class 3A No. 19 Lady Rangers (4-2) outscored 4A Broken Bow (3-4) 14-8 in the final eight minutes to erase a three-point deficit as Roland topped the Lady Savages Saturday in the thirdplace game of Talihina’s Choctaw Nation Invitational Tournament.
In the first quarter Roland’s Kynlei Earnhart hit a pair of 3-pointers but Broken Bow went in front 12-10.
Earnhart knocked down two more 3-pointers in the second stanza and Addison Cole (5 points) also made a trey while Broken Bow added a point (16-15) to its advantage to lead 28-25 at the half.
Each team recorded 11 points in the third period and the Lady Rangers’ Haven Freeman (10 points) made four field goals and both of her free throw attempts. Broken Bow took a 39-36 lead to the fourth.
Behind the scoring of Freeman (8 points) and Earnhart and Cole (3-pointer apiece) the Lady Rangers took the lead for good in the final frame.
Freeman led all scorers with 22 points and Earnhart, who made five 3-pointers in the contest, added 15 points to Roland’s total. Also scoring for the Lady Rangers were Cole (8 points), Lilly Medicine Bird (3) and Madison Jetton (2).
ROLAND BOYS 68, BROKEN BOW 60 (SATURDAY) The Class 3A ninth-ranked Rangers (5– 1) registered 41 points in the second half of Saturday’s CNIT third-place game and Roland’s Davohn Hall led the way offensively in the contest with a game-high 30 points.
In the first stanza Hall scored four of Roland’s 11 points but 4A No. 20 Broken Bow (5-3) grabbed a 1311 lead.
Hall (11 points) knocked down three 3-pointers in the second period to help the Rangers erase the deficit (16-13) and lead 27-26 at the half.
Behind the scoring of Kyeree Hall (6 points), Carson Wiggins (5) and Ashton Peters and Davohn Hall (4 each) the Rangers added five points (21-16) to their advantage in the third quarter.
Davohn and Kyeree Hall recorded 11 and seven points, respectively, in the final frame as Roland outscored Broken Bow 20-18.
Trailing Davohn Hall in scoring for Roland were Kyeree Hall (15 points), Wiggins (9), Peters (6), Peyton Whisenant (4) and Raesean Perryman and Buck Triplett (2 each).
Broken Bow’s top two scorers were Kieler Young (28 points) and Tyrin Tinajero (18).
HOWE GIRLS 53, ROLAND 43 (FRIDAY)
Class 2A No. 4 Howe (7-2) handed the 3A No. 19 Lady Rangers (3-2) their first tournament loss Friday night in a semifinal game at Talihina’s CNIT.
In the opening quarter Roland’s Haven Freeman, Addison Cole and Lilly Medicine Bird recorded three points apiece but the Lady Lions took a 13-9 lead.
Howe increased its advantage by three (13-10) in the second period and Kynlei Earnhart and Medicine Bird registered three points apiece for the Lady Rangers, who trailed 26-19 at the break.
In the third stanza Freeman hit a pair of 3-pointers and totaled eight points and Earnhart made her second 3-pointer but the Lady Lions outscored Roland 14-12.
Howe increased its advantage (13-12) in the final frame and Cole knocked down her second and third 3-pointers of the game and Freeman added four points for the Lady Rangers.
Freeman (16 points) and Cole (13) were Roland’s top scorers in the contest and also recording points for the Lady Rangers were Medicine Bird (8) and Earnhart (6).
Ash Dalton led Howe in scoring with 16 points.
RATTAN BOYS 49, ROLAND 46 (FRIDAY)
Class A No. 2 Rattan improved to 13-0 for the season Friday night as the Rams outscored the 3A No. 9 Rangers (4-1) 27-20 in the final 16 minutes of the CNIT semifinal contest.
Roland’s Carson Wiggins and Davohn Hall recorded four points apiece in the first stanza as each team scored 10 points.
The Rangers led 26-22 at the break after outscoring the Rams 16-12 in the second quarter. Davohn Hall (8 points) hit two 3-pointers and Kyeree Hall (5) also made a trey for Roland in the period.
Wiggins registered six points in the third period but Rattan trimmed three points (14-11) off the deficit and entered the fourth trailing 37-36.
Rattan took the lead in the fourth frame after outscoring Roland 13-9 and Kyeree Hall and Wiggins scored six and three points, respectively, for the Rangers.
Davohn Hall (14 points), Wiggins (13), Kyeree Hall (11), Peyton Whisenant (4), Paul Johnson (2) and Desean Cruse (1) provided the scoring for the Rangers in the contest.
ROLAND GIRLS 46, TALIHINA 22 (THURSDAY)
The Lady Rangers (3-1) outscored the host Lady Golden Tigers (1-4) 37-13 in the final three periods of their CNIT opener Thursday night.
Both teams totaled nine points in the first frame and Lilly Medicine Bird (pair of 2-pointers) and Kynlei Earnhart (3-pointer) were Roland’s leading scorers in the period.
Roland’s Haven Freeman (11 points) hit a 3-pointer, three 2-point baskets and a pair of foul shots in the second quarter and Earnhart and Laikyn Conaway each knocked down a 3-pointer to help the Lady Rangers outscore Talihina 17-5.
Roland led 26-14 at the intermission. Freeman (5 points), Medicine Bird (4) and Jazlynn Tehee (3 pointer) provided the scoring in the third period for the Lady Rangers, who outscored the Lady Golden Tigers 12-5.
In the final eight minutes Freeman registered four of her game-high 22 points and Earnhart connected on her third trey of the game to help Roland add five points (8-3) to its lead.
Trailing Freeman in scoring for Roland were Medicine Bird and Earnhart (9 points each) and Tehee and Conaway (3 each).
ROLAND BOYS 60, TALIHINA 33 (THURSDAY)
The Rangers cruised into the semifinals Thursday night with a convincing victory over the host Golden Tigers in their tournament opener.
In the first period Roland’s Peyton Whisenant and Carson Wiggins registered four points apiece and Davohn Hall and Buck Triplett each hit a 3-pointer as the Rangers grabbed a 16-11 advantage.
The Rangers’ Kyeree Hall scored 12 of his gamehigh 21 points in the second period to help Roland add four points (15-11) to its lead.
Roland led 31-22 at the intermission. Kyeree Hall (7 points) knocked down his second 3-pointer of the game in the third quarter and Davohn Hall and Wiggins added four points apiece as Roland outscored the Golden Tigers 19-10.
In the final eight minutes Davohn Hall (5 points) hit his third 3-pointer of the contest and the Rangers increased their advantage by nine (10-1).
Trailing Kyeree Hall in scoring for the Rangers (4-0) were Davohn Hall (12 points), Wiggins (11), Whisenant (6), Desean Cruse and Buck Triplett (3 each) and Raesean Perryman and Paul Johnson (2 apiece).
The top three scorers for Talihina (0-5) were Isaiah Lloyd (8 points) and Ramses Hernandez and Eric Rose (7 each).
