Webbers Falls earns split at Oaks Mission

Webbers Falls head coach Jordan Garner has to be proud of Anistyn Garner’s 35 points in Friday’s contest against Oaks Mission and its highest scoring player Brixey Watkins, who had 29 points.
By the end of the first quarter, Webbers Falls ran up a 16-point lead with its ability to hit the long ball. The girls made six three-pointers – three by Garner, two by Bayley Haraway and a lone trey by Bridgette Baer. In addition, Baer and Garner added two free throws and a bucket, respectively, along with Teralynn Colston’s two-of-four attempts from the line, earning a 24-8 score going into the second quarter.
In the second period, Oaks’ Allysa Hawley and Brixey Watkins added six points apiece, and Chloe Blossom added one from the charity stripe. Webbers Falls almost kept pace with its output in the first stanza, with Garner adding nine points, Colston making seven points and Baer and Haraway both draining a trey to build the Webbers Falls lead to 25 points at 46-21 by intermission.
After the break, Oaks’ Ally Rill hit a three-pointer, Watkins added six points, Hawley hit two buckets and Blossom made one from the line to give Oaks 14 points in the third quarter. Webbers Falls answered with Garner hitting two treys, two buckets and two from the line for 12 points in the quarter. Cheyanne Herrier and Baer both contributed a three-pointer, and Haraway made a bucket for a total of 20 points that increased Webbers Falls’ lead to 31 points and a 66-35 cushion to start the last stanza.
In the fourth quarter, Watkins was on fire as Oaks’ lone scorer, making six buckets and two from the line for 14 points. Garner countered with a trey and Colston hit one from the line before Webbers Falls subbed in some players. Herrier made a bucket along with Lextyn Chappell before the buzzer, ending the contest a comfortable 25 points ahead.
The Webbers Falls Lady Warriors’ record increased to 6-1 for the season, and the girls are off until Jan. 5.

Webbers Falls (2-5) found itself outgunned on the road against Class A Oaks Mission (5-2).
The Oaks’ defense proved effective against Webbers Falls, and the host Warriors were able to convert those defensive plays into points, outscoring Webbers Falls nearly every quarter.
Webbers Falls is idle for the holiday break before hosting the Webbers Falls Tournament beginning Jan. 5.
