Muldrow girls, Roland boys top seeds for county tournament

The Muldrow girls’ and Roland boys’ high school basketball teams are the top seeds for this year’s Armstrong Bank Sequoyah County Area Classic which gets underway Monday night.

The Muldrow girls’ and Roland boys’ high school basketball teams are the top seeds for this year’s Armstrong Bank Sequoyah County Area Classic which gets underway Monday night.

The Class 4A No. 11 Muldrow Lady Bulldogs are the girls defending tournament champions and the 3A seventh-ranked Roland Rangers finished second to Muldrow on the boys’ side in 2022.

Muldrow’s Roger Sharp Activity Center is the main site for this year’s tournament and Vian’s Traw Fieldhouse is the subsite.

At 6:30 p.m. on Monday night at Muldrow the Lady Bulldogs take on Gans and at Vian the Lady Wolverines play Stigler.

On the boys’ side Monday at 8 p.m. the Rangers meet Gans at Muldrow and the Wolverines take on Gore at Vian.

First-round girls’ games on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. include Central vs. Sallisaw at Vian and Gore vs. Roland at Muldrow.

The boys’ first-round contests Tuesday at 8 p.m. feature Sallisaw vs. Stigler at Vian and Muldrow vs. Central at Muldrow.

Semifinal consolation games on Wednesday will be played at 4 and 5:30 p.m. at Muldrow and Vian and Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s contests will be played at Muldrow.

The girls’ semifinal games on Thursday will include the Vian-Stigler winner against the Roland-Gore winner (4 p.m.) and the Muldrow-Gans winner against the Sallisaw-Central winner (7 p.m.).

The boys’ semifinal contests on Thursday will feature the Vian-Gore winner against the Muldrow-Central winner (5:30 p.m.) and the Roland-Gans winner against the Sallisaw-Stigler winner (8:30 p.m.).

Consolation finals (girls at 6:30 p.m. and boys at 8 p.m.) will be played Friday and on Saturday thirdplace games (girls at 1:30 p.m. and boys at 3 p.m.) and championship contests (girls at 6:30 p.m. and boys at 8 p.m.) will be held.
