Five Grizzlies tabbed for All-District honors

GANS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

The 2022 football season for the Gans Grizzlies was one for the books. With a record of 2-9, the team may not have had the most successful season on the field, but the Grizzlies definitely had some standout players.

Quarterback Hunter Walters was awarded First Team All-District, leading the team late in the season due to an injury, but his strong arm and quick thinking on the field helped his team make the playoffs. Defensive lineman Clay Martinez also earned a First Team All-District award, consistently disrupting plays and causing havoc for opposing offenses.

The receiving corps for the Grizzlies was a force with which to be reckoned, with both Nakota White and Caleb Martin being named First Team All-District wide receivers. The duo peaked perfectly when Walters made it off the DL list. Once the team was healthy, the Grizzlies racked up yards and touchdowns through their impressive speed and agility.

While he may not have made the first team, alternate eight-man all-star linebacker Christian Vasquez still had a fantastic season. His hard hits and tenacious defense earned him welldeserved recognition. Overall, it was a tough season for the Gans Grizzlies, but the awards earned by these talented players show that there is plenty of potential for success in the future. With a strong foundation of talented athletes, the Grizzlies will no doubt be a team to watch in the coming years.
