Happy New Year from TOPS chapter 0737 Sallisaw

By Billie Anthony

This past Monday, Jan. 2, began a new year of weight recording for our TOPS. We also started weighing in at 10:30am instead of 10am. We had 7 members weigh in today. Everyone had a joyous Christmas with family and friends. Since it was our first weigh in of the year, we didn’t have a biggest weight loss or Two Bit Bowl winner.

Sallisaw TOPS

This past Monday, Jan. 2, began a new year of weight recording for our TOPS. We also started weighing in at 10:30am instead of 10am. We had 7 members weigh in today. Everyone had a joyous Christmas with family and friends. Since it was our first weigh in of the year, we didn’t have a biggest weight loss or Two Bit Bowl winner.

I handed out posters to publicize our TOPS CLUB chapter for members to take to their local gas station or grocery store. Many of you will probably see our poster, so feel free to call for more information about TOPS.

This year marks TOPS CLUB INC. 75th Anniversary. So beginning today, we will begin the Shine Like a Diamond 75th Anniversary Challenge. We are to complete 15 out of 20 activities this year to qualify for recognition. We look forwards to the challenges. I realized there were some good ideas for chapter programs. We checked off the first activity because we sent our weight chart resume’ in before January 8, 2023. Next week we will be able to check off the second activity by utilizing something from the TOPS web page to use as a program. Co-Leader Neve will be taking care of the meeting next week since Doris and I will be in Muskogee for the AARP Tax Preparation classes. We will begin preparing taxes the first Wednesday in February.

Our program for Monday was “3 Healthy Eating Plans”. I handed out a printout of a civil war cannon to each of the ladies. They are to name their cannon and bring it with them each week. I will hand out a ‘cannon ball’ (information on weight loss) each week to be put in a 3 prong file folder. TOPS is not about dieting or selling you a food plan. But we do recommend these three different eating plans to help you build your healthy lifestyle. Just don’t forget to check with a licensed healthcare professional first. The Food Exchange System can help you watch portions and cut calories without feeling deprived. There are no “good” or “bad” foods with the Exchange System—all foods fit in moderation. Food lists developed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American Diabetes Association. These lists group all foods with similar amounts of carbohydrate, protein and fat. These TOPS tools can help you make the Exchange System work for you.

The price to join TOPS CLUB INC is $49 for a new member and for a member whose membership has expired, the cost is $37.

EVERYONE is invited to visit. The first visit is FREE. It cost $49 a year to join TOPS Club INC. We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10:30am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10:30am and the meeting starts at 11am and ends at 12. For more info, please call Billie at 918/413-1383. We look forward to meeting you.
