Letter to the Editor
Changes must be made
Changes must be made
Dear Editor, I am a resident of the city of Sallisaw. I’ve lived here for many years. I live on a fixed income from Social Security. I bearly make it from month to month. I always pay my land taxes on the third of the month and I pay half of it. I never have enough to pay it in full.
I went to the tax office on the third to pay the first half of my taxes. I was told by the person in a smug way that the treasurer, Angela West, changed the rules on paying your taxes. She put a deadline on it that ended Friday of last week. I don’t have all of the money to pay it in full. She has just made it harder on everyone who has a fixed income and can nearly make ends meet.
I was told to pay it all and come back when I have it all. They further told me that they will tack on fees for it being late. I was treated with utter disdain.
Changes in the county have to be made. I’ve been treated badly since I moved here. I’ve been thrown out of two churches, and the last one went into my internet and got everywhere I’ve been. Dating sites and everything. They will answer when the end comes for us all.
I’ve never seen a town with so much hatred and disdain. I was forced to move here because of my spouse dying. I lost everything.
Changes need to be made to help the people of this town. The powers that be refuse to change or let this town grow. Everyone out there needs to stand up and force the changes. Your town is dying, so stop all your hate and work together to make Sallisaw a great place to live.
MEGAN BROWN, SALLISAW
