Roland sweeps Spiro, Muldrow girls win at Stilwell

Roland swept its Northeastern Oklahoma Athletic Association doubleheader Tuesday night at home inside the Ranger Dome while Muldrow split its conference contests in Adair County.

Roland’s Haven Freeman, Addison Cole and Laikyn Conaway scored a combined 43 points Tuesday night as the Class 3A No. 15 Lady Rangers improved to 7-4 for the season with the NOAA home win over the Lady Bulldogs (7-7).

In the first eight minutes Freeman (5 points), Cole (4) and Conaway (3-pointer) helped the Lady Rangers outscore Spiro 12-4. Brynleigh Graham registered all of Spiro’s points in the period.

Roland added six points (15-9) to its lead in the second stanza. Freeman (5 points), Kynlei Earnhart and Conaway each made a 3-pointer and Cole had four points while Kiana Craig scored four points for Spiro, which trailed 27-13 at the break.

In the third quarter Cole and Freeman (4 points apiece) and Conaway (3) led Roland in scoring and Graham registered five points as the Lady Rangers increased their lead (13-10).

Lilly Medicine Bird, Conaway and Cole (3 points each) were Roland’s top scorers in the final frame and Graham recorded four points for the Lady Bulldogs, who were outscored 15-8.

Freeman (16 points) led all scorers in the contest and also registering points for Roland were Cole (15), Conaway (12), Medicine Bird (5), Earnhart (3) and Julianna Trujillo and Riscay Campbell (2 each).

Spiro’s top four scorers were Graham (15 points), Craig (6) and Kayke Martin (4) and Lindsey Wortham (4).

Roland boys 67, Spiro 36

Four Roland players scored in double figures Tuesday night at home as the Class 3A No. 5 Rangers improved to 10-1 for the season with their convincing win over Spiro.

The Rangers led 22-7 at the end of the opening period and Roland’s Carson Wiggins (9 points) and Peyton Whisenant (7) made a 3-pointer apiece.

In the second quarter Kyeree Hall (7 points) and Ashton Peters each hit a pointer to help the Rangers add six points (14-8) to their advantage.

Roland led 36-15 at the half.

Davohn Hall (two 3-pointers) recorded 10 of Roland’s points in the third frame but the Bulldogs trimmed three points (17-14) off the deficit.

The Rangers outscored Spiro 17-4 in the final stanza and Roland’s top scorers were Whisenant and Wiggins (4 points each) and Kyeree Hall (3).

Wiggins led all scorers with 17 points and also recording points for Roland in the contest were Whisenant (15), Davohn Hall (14), Kyeree Hall (12), Peters (3) and Desean Cruse, Cason Perryman and Buck Triplett (2 each).

Brycen Graham and Coy Clark registered nine points apiece to lead Spiro in scoring.

Muldrow girls 51, Stilwell 46

Class 4A No. 9 Muldrow (11-1 overall) overcame a 13-point halftime deficit by outscoring the host Lady Indians (7-5) 32-14 in the final two periods Tuesday night inside the Stilwell Activity Center.

In the first quarter Muldrow’s Kennedi Wight made a 3-pointer and registered nine points but Stilwell’s Snowda Watie hit a pair of 3-pointers and recorded 12 points as the Lady Indians went in front 23-11.

Stilwell led 32-19 at the half after adding a point (9-8) to its advantage in the second stanza. Kennady Moore went 3-for-4 at the foul line for the Lady Bulldogs in the period.

The Lady Bulldogs trimmed 11 points (19-8) off the deficit in the third frame and Muldrow’s top scorers were Wight (3-pointer and 7 points), Jensi Fields (two 3-pointers) and Moore (3-pointer). Stilwell took a 40-38 lead to the fourth quarter.

Cailey Grinstead’s two 2-point baskets and Wight’s three points helped Muldrow outscore the Lady Indians 13-6 in the final eight minutes and register the key conference win.

Wight scored a team-high 20 points in the contest and also recording points for Muldrow were Grinstead, Kennady Moore and Jensi Fields (8 each), Katelynn Moore (3) and Carmen Fields and Claire Tabor (2 each).

Watie led all scorers with 22 points.

Stilwell boys 82, Muldrow 33

The Class 4A No. 11 Indians defeated No. 20 Muldrow in the NOAA contest Tuesday night at Stilwell.

Stilwell improved to 10-2 for the season and the Bulldogs slipped to 9-3.
