Scoring for the Lady Lions were Slatey Jo Free (17 points), Gracie Lute (13), Breanna Wann (11), Kylie Smith (10), Kadynce Delt (8), Karsyn Nye (6), Abby Huie and Jurnee Williams (5 each), Kylie Mundy (3) and Ashlynn Dalton (2).
Vian boys 55, Howe 42
The Wolverines’ Masyn Wright and Desean Mays scored a combined 36 points Monday night as Vian beat the visiting Lions in the conference contest.
Vian (5-4 overall) outscored the Lions (2-10) 15-8 in the first stanza and Mays (6 points) made three field goals while Wright and K’den Richardson (3-pointer) registered four and three points, respectively, for Vian.
The Wolverines added five points (17-12) to its advantage in the second quarter and Wright scored 13 of his game-high 22 points while knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. Howe’s Kobe Wooten (8 points) also hit two 3-pointers in the period.
Vian led 32-20 at the intermission.
Vian outscored the Lions 16-10 in the third frame and Mays (6 points) and Yonsi Grass (5) hit a 3-pointer apiece for the Wolverines, who took a 48-30 lead to the fourth.
Howe trimmed five points (12-7) off the deficit in the final eight minutes.
Trailing Wright (22 points) and Mays (14) in scoring for Vian were Richardson (5), Diego Ramos (4), Trace Sanders (3) and Michael Polecat (2).
Howe’s top scorers were Wooten (13 points), Brayden Dalton and Aldon Lemus (5 each) and Trendon Corley, Jaxon Remy and Mason York (3 apiece).
