Muldrow recognizes school board members in meeting

The Muldrow Board of Education met on Jan. 9 where they were recognized as part of School Board recognition month and took care of other business for the continuing and upcoming school years.

The Muldrow Board of Education met on Jan. 9 where they were recognized as part of School Board recognition month and took care of other business for the continuing and upcoming school years.

The board first approved the reorganization of the Board Officer position for Darrin Phelps, moving him from Member to Clerk.

Clifta Fugett, during the Superintendent’s Report, discussed School Board recognition month and presented certificates to all board members, reviewed the January School calendar, discussed the midterm State Aid Allocation adjustments, Checotah Tournament brackets, and the National School Board Convention.

Fugett also discussed a donation that the school will be receiving for the VoAg Department.

Site Principals John Black, Joe Phillips and Janelle Tyler each addressed the board to present their site test scores and report cards.

The board approved renewing the contract of Angela Williams as Federal Programs Director for the 2023-24 school year and Rachel Sagely as an adjunct instructor for High School Language Arts for 2022-23.

Under consent agenda items for the 2022-23 school year, Molly Cherry, Bertha Morgan and Ty Tucker were all approved as substitute teachers; and General Fund Encumbrances #401-421 for $157,778.75 and General Fund Payroll #50189 to 50193 for $3,167.62 were both approved.

Site Teachers for the 2022-23 school year were also named: London Lee – Elementary, Whitney Sutton – Middle School and Amanda Reeves – High School. Lee was also named the District Teacher of the Year.

Also approved during the meeting were the following:

• District’s Emergency Operations Plan

• The proposed School Calendar for the 2023-24 school year

• Activity Fund transfers as listed.
